Title of lecture: The long tail of carbon release.
Title of lecture: The long tail of carbon release.
Title of lecture: The next million years of climate : Stability or disaster?
This is a third year undergraduate course covering a broad range of content. I gave a lecture considering climate
change over the next million years, with a particular emphasis on the climatic impacts that need to be considered when
choosing a site for a radioactive waste disposal repository. The lecture included examples of studies that address such
long-term climate change, including my own personal research.
These were a series of tutorials for second year students, aiming to provide a wider context and additional support for the units that students are taking, as well as encouraging early engagement with the material.
I have provided teaching assistance on multiple undergraduate courses and workshops based at the University of Bristol, including:
NERC DTP Course - A Practical Introduction to Earth System Modelling (2015, 2016, 2018) - A NERC DTP course
involving computer practicals modelling various aspects of climate using the cGENIE Earth system model (version GENIE-1).
Introduction to Earth System Modelling (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018) - A Masters course involving
computer practicals modelling various aspects of climate using the cGENIE Earth system model (version GENIE-1).
Sea Level: Past, Present and Future (2016) - A third year course consisting of computer practicals
using R exploring the use of a semi-empirical model to predict global sea level change.
Past and Future Climate Simulation (2015) - A Masters course consisting of computer practicals
using R modelling various aspects of climate using the GENIE Earth system model (version GENIE-2).
Environmental Change 3 (2014) - A third year undergraduate course involving computer practicals
comparing modern day observational ocean data with proxy data.
Year 1 Undergraduate Fieldtrip to Dartmoor (2014) - A first year undergraduate fieldtrip
comprising fieldwork followed by assessed presentations.
Marking experience including essays and oral presentations.
